Street photography with Industar-69 28mm f2.8 lens on Olympus OM-D E-M5 II

Industar-69 28mm f2.8 lens is the cutest lens I've ever seen or used! It's so thin, a pan cake lens! The copy I have is sharp enough for everyday used though I have read on various blogs that the lens lack sharpness. I've fixed the lens for infinity by a simple operation followed by browsing online (I have not linked it because I don't remember where but if you are interested, you'll easily find after some Googling).

I am postedin a remote place called Longding which is place towards the India- Burma border. Here, you'll find Wancho people who were earlier well known head hunters. The Wancho people are creative in wood craftsmanship and are known for their various colourful patterns and bead works.

This is again not a technical lens review. Just a walk around photography I've done one day when I went shopping for vegetables in the market.

The lens is prone to vignetting and has swirly bokeh which some likes, some avoids.

All the photos were resized from the standard 16 Megapixels to 3 mMegapixels and some contrast was added on Photoshop before sharing.

 This one is a test photo taken at f2.8. It shows the swirly bokeh and vignetting.

The below photography was done when I went to the market to get vegetables. All the photos are taken at aperture f5.6. I used a DIY lens hood to add to the contrast made of coke bottle which I will share in my next post.

Random (Street) Photography

There is a shopping complex in Naharlagun called Takar Complex. They usually sell various clothes and home articles imported from Thailand or China. It is like a flee market. Goods here can be bargained and are cheap but they are still more than their retail value. I went with my Mom to get few things and since I had my camera with me, tried few shots.

The below shots are taken with CCTV/ Fujian 35mm f/1.7 lens on Olympus E-Pl2.

Fujian/ CCTV 35mm f1.7 lens is a fun lens and not for serious Photography.

It has only centre sharpness and also it is not smooth or easy to focus beyond certain distance.

It does well with near distance subjects.

There was a lot of haze and lens flare too.

I tried to correct them in Photoshop PS6

Below Photos are taken with Pentacon 50mm f1.8 lens on Canon 40D.

I've read various lens reviews on Pentacon 50mm f1.8 lens and none of them were very positive about the lens.

I LOVE the lens! Pentacon 50mm f1.8 lens is a sharp and fast lens. The colours are also punchy and nice.

 The above photo shows the irony of Idol worship and superstition in India. You can see a small temple of Goddess Kali. The Goddess is locked inside and there is this large Donation Box which reads "Daan Pantre" in Hindi which means Donation Box. It was captured with Olympus E-Pl2 and Fujian/ CCTV 35mm f/1.7 lens

Street photography: Delhi

I am a shy person by nature. I used to think that I am reserved but at times I can be quite extrovert so I guess I am just plain shy. Once my initial inhibitions are gone, I can be quite open. This is same for me when it comes to Street photography. I used to fret a lot earlier and by the time I make my mind up, the subject moves away or the frame is gone... These days I have a renewed confidence on Street Photography. I am still very much a novice but I did try clicking some photos and coming out of my shell. I hope you enjoy the photos or rather chaos of Delhi/ India.These are just random and few but since I have a renewed my confidence in Street Photography...more to come soon. Please watch out!

Momos! This a Nepali or Tibetan variation of Chinese dimsums sold on the road side in many cities/ towns of India. It is cheap and tastes good.

Dog eating outside a Hindu temple in Chandni Chowk. Many street dogs strive well in India because most Indians are religious and spiritual and believe in greater kindness towards animals and birds. they often leave food for street dogs and cows on the road side or outside their homes.

Photo taken in Connaught Place. I came here to get my canon 40D serviced. Very bad service I must say. I had some fungus issue on the inside of the camera and dust on the view finder. The technician at the Canon centre said that I need to change my sensor and viewfinder for Rs. 27 thousand something (about 28,000!!!). I got my camera back and had it cleaned in Chandni Chowk for Rs. 1500! Didn't get the dust off the viewfinder but it is workable as of now.

This photo was taken in District Park, opposite Saffdarjung Enclave.

Look at the crowd again! I am not used to seeing such a large crowd as I come from a small town so it actually intrigues me to see flow of human beings at one place: strangers. The photo was taken in Nehru Place, Delhi. I came here for to get my laptop serviced. This is the largest wholesale place for electronics in Delhi.

Many young students from the North East of India like her stay in Delhi as a Paying Guest, in Hostels or flats for higher studies. Students from good family usually stay in flats with helpers brought along with them from their home. India is a developing country with many poor people. The Rich and the Poor of India has a huge difference in their capital income. It is easy and cheap to find domestic helps in India. Even the middle class people of India keep helpers.
